Data Destruction Taking data security to the next level

Program Overview

It’s estimated that more than half of all businesses and municipal and/or tax supported organizations do not use a professional service to destroy their old hard drives, storage media, or other hardware that contains confidential information… Only a physical destruction ensures the data on old hard drives and other storage media is 100% destroyed and completely inaccessible.

By choosing Decker Services for your data destruction needs, you get the peace of mind knowing that your hard drives and storage media will pass through a secure, meticulous, and documented process all the way from start to finish.

Control Board Removal and Destruction

Hard drives that were produced in or around 2005, and newer, are paired with control boards that contain the drive’s adaptive data embedded into the chips. This data includes information about the hard drive’s: heads, firmware, sector information, and more. Since each control board comes “married” to a particular drive, it cannot simply be swapped or replaced with a different one to provide access to your data.

Entirely separating and removing this board from the drive is the first step in the process to ensure your sensitive data can not be accessed ever again… Most other places don’t do this!

Physical Destruction

We utilize several methods to destroy computer hard drives, cell phones, tapes, optical media, diskettes, and other data storage types into inaccessible pieces and fragments.

Our most commonly used destruction methods involve one, or more, of the following:

  • Crushing by means of a hydraulic press or leverage engineered mechanism
  • Drilling by means of a drill press or similar device
  • Blunt force applied by repeated blows with a sledge hammer or similar device
  • Shredding by use of a commercial/industrial shredding machine

Certificate of Destruction

Following every hard drive and/or device destruction session, you will receive from us a Certificate of Destruction confirming that your material has been securely destroyed. This will provide you with additional peace of mind knowing that your certificate is PROOF that your information is no longer at risk, and your business is compliant with relevant privacy laws.

For high volume customers, we can also provide to you photographic documentation of your device’s destruction, at your request.
